cosworth 24v with triumph throttle bodies

theres been a bit of talk about bike carbs and individual TB's on the 24v lump so as ive got both in the garage i though i'd offer them up







looks like they could be made to fit, ive no idea how to make them work so please dont ask!


these are off a triumph daytona 675cc triple, 1/4 the capacity of the v6 but the butterflys are as big as those in the cossie throttle body

wouldnt you need 2 of them dont you need 1 for each cyl

anyway carry on with this all the best projects come from daft ideas i remember once posting an idea of fitting a cossy yb into a mk6

yes of course you'd need 2! but ive only got one broken triumph so only one bank to offer up.

i doubt im ever going to go anywhere with this but it shows you could get a pair triple throttle bodies in the "V" without taling up any more room than the original plenum. ive read from several sources that the limiting factor on a NA BOA is the throttle body. you could get a set (of 3) of these for about £70, seems fairly cheap to me!

i think ive seen it done before (pics) with 3 twin t/b's - i remember something about it having a conversion to a distributer too and someone on fordpower saying it wont run as the 24v doenst have the drive gear there

yeah proberbly ........ well definatly but that costs getting it runnings a bit above my head but i'm sure i could knock up the manifolds just need somone to profile out the blank flanges

Thinking on luke, you'd prolly need an after market management system to allow for the fuelling control of those bodies??
Or some diff injectors... do they put vaectra V6 in 'em or summat!

just been doing a bit of googling this was what i was gonna do and make an boxed plenum on top for the turbos with the factory t/b mounted on top to get better distribution - but i wasnt sure it would work and i didnt have a spare plenum to cut down nice to know it works tho

luke, you can get a megasquirt ecu that runs off the EDIS module for under £300 quid, and that includes the loom and programming software.

the triumph TB's are rubber mounted so all you'd need to do is weld some short stacks onto that cut down plenum to make them fit.

so how are we going to connect the turbo(s) or supercharger to them they would need some sort of enclosed airbox

turbos is cheating i was thinking more of keeping it pure normally aspirated decent cam grind etc and see what it does....wonder whats possible on a NA engine with banks of TB's, cams, etc.... 260, 280bhp, more?



bet it would cost more than bolting on that g60 charger though

i cant see any point in going to that sort of hassle and keeping it normaly aspirated - its not like its in a race class with no turbos allowed

it would be a shame for somone (you) to go to all that hassle and then get your ass kicked at weald by my turbo tranny

turbos or supercharger FTW 2012 of course you'll do well to be there for 2011

me? LOL.......i was hoping to get it into the van and at the exhaust makers this side of christmas but i cant see that happening the money isnt an issue its lack of time and energy so im back thinking about the wheels and the axles, cleaning and painting the engine, anything i can get done in the little spare time i have

if i do any work on the engine i'll boost it one way or the other, its very unlikely i'll have the time to figure any of this TB stuff out.
