stuff it! proper custom chrome rims... any info.....

Postby Beefy » Tue Nov 30, 2010 9:31 pm

Hi guys, long time no chat (been off line whilse moving house, but im back!)

those of you that know my van will know the wheels im on about.
right: all im after is an exact or pretty close set of rims for my van like the ones i have on it
(ie: big and littles chrome wellar style) but drilled or made to the transit 5 on 160 pcd.
i dont care how difficult it is, or how much i have to fork out, but im guessing wellar have shut down
as i cant seem to call them (unless i have an old number)
im just fed up of running with hub adapters.
has anyone on here got any companies details that can supply a chromed rim about 14" fronts 15" rears
6 or 7 ish" wide (not too fussed)
and can drill or supplied pre drilled 5 on 160mm stud pattern!
love to all!

14's - keep an eye out for transit wellers :)

15 (or 16s) you would have to redrill some Landy Wellers and if you wanted - then weld up the unused stud holes and get em re-chromed?

If money really is no object then one of the american companies will build you any wheel with any stud pattern you require  Just don't forget to add import duty to the price, you wouldn;t see much change from £2000

Otherwise ther are engineering companies here that will fill your wheels and re-drill them, then re-chrome, it certainly isnt cheap though, I was quoted £140 PER WHEEL just for stripping and re-chroming.....a tad over my tight budget :(

surley if there is enough people with boxes of parts that need doing then its got to be a possibility??
welding em up and re drilling isnt a prob with me, just the chroming process would be the same cost of a new set i was thinking.
am gonna gee up wellar after lunch and see what they say

i know what your saying, but thats too easy!

ANYWAY!
i managed to speak to weller wheels today.
it seems they went out of business last year as "mr weller?"
sold up and retired.
the company that bought the business folded
so "mr weller" decided to re-aquire old tooling etc and start up again.

according to the lady on the phone, they are planning on making up the tooling to make wheels suitable to drill transit PCD's mid to end of next year as demand is minimal at the moment for the larger sized pcd's.
but in her words... " if enough interest is forwarded through thier websit
(www.wellerwheels.com) then they would concider bumping up the priority of making the toolings..."

not so much luck on the chrome side of things but theres hope still.
in the mean-time, if people are wanting weller wheels with transit
pcd's we all need to badger them through the web site to get it done.

which is what im gonna do now.........
ps: Mr Puk, the phone rang twice befor they answered... :)

weller are also on 01527 506047... which might work even better

then badger away my friend!
the more people that enquire, the more chance there is of them listening and acting upon it.
its not just the 7 spoke stuff, they start with the blank steel, so technically its whatever design you want
that will fit....
