Pod for dash top

Has anyone made/adapted a pod/cowl thing to go on the dash in the centre - I want to build my sat nav in, maybe couple of other bits and was wondering if there was anything that nearly fits off some other vehicle or maybe an after market part? I'm sure some of you must have dials/guages or radios or stuff mounted up there?
Failing that anyone tried mounting their sat nav on the roof where the rear view mirror would be? Prolly not very convenient.
I'm mainly into plannning stuff at the mo' as it's too cold to work out in the street!

Well, I planned on fixing it in in such a way that a/ it looks like a part of the van so prolly wont come out in one piece and b/ fixing it so that it actually won't come out in one piece.
Or I suppose plan c would be to just clip it in every time, still I wanted to avoid the sucker cup on the screen because they leave a mark then people break in in case it is in your glove box...can't win I guess.

Dont think a MK3 ambulance pod would work as Im sure the face is only about 65mm, just looked at a pod top and again it only accepts a 52mm gauge. You might have to get creative

I'd be interested to see that - maybe I could put a piece of tinted plastic infront so that when it's off it just looks like some home made junk?
I'm not ignoring the theft factor - just trying to be creative. Might be best to wait until I tint the cab glass I guess, they don't seem to like that.

new bit of carbon will be here in the morning, the one i had was too small, will get it cut at the weekend and should have it finished in a week or so.

Gavins pod is looking super cool. I have seen one or two interesting bits on ebay, though it is difficult to tell until you get them in your hand I think.
