MK5 to MK7 Front Bumper

Postby mk5 baby » Wed Dec 15, 2010 12:56 am

Hi users

I come to like the front bumper on the MK7 however nothing else about future vans from MK5 onwards (Sorry)

However more to the point the MK7 has nice front bumper straight lines etc

I would like to fit such front bumper to a MK5 and I'm SERIOUS with enough work I'm sure this would look really nice the bonnet on MK5 has straight lip on the edge on the front and sure the straight lines of the middle part of the MK7 bumper would run smoothly inline with the bonnet

I'm aware that the grille and smiley front panel would have to be removed but how difficult would the bolting be?

Does anyone know how to do this or has some one done this crazy conversion.

MK5 lovers please dont use this topic to insult me on such conversion by calling me a MK7 hethian and say I'm defacing a MK5 legend just want to add that va va voom and modern touch to a lovely classic yet still keep its other looks

MK5 time for a facelift

Postby mk5 baby » Wed Dec 15, 2010 8:40 pm

Hi in my last post I stated about changing bumper from MK5 to a MK7 now been thinking to change the lot wings, slam panel, bonnet and a bumper on followed by the new lights and wing mirrors.

Just wanted people thoughts if this can be certainly done

I know the MK5 is 1974mm wide and checking spec on the newer Transits have not widened yet and are still 1974mm wide and in theroy whats behind is near enough the same chassis rails same position obvisiously :) and that its just a face in front which could be lifted and retransplanted. Sorry if this sounds dumb.

They're not cheap. And I'd be scared of ruining bits trying to botch them together. Have you checked engine clearance?

Why don't you just buy a mk7?
