Hi would the tank off a p reg petrol transit do for my boa conversion or will I have to still fit a swirl pot?

The fuel pump must be lower than the tank to feed the pump.If not you will need a pump to fill the swirl pot which will in turn feed the injection pump under it.

MK5 SOHC and DOHC has integral pump in tank, can't see the problem unless you use a diesel tank, in which case you need to fit a fuel pump.

MK3, eg V6 cologne has pump inline outside and below metal tank as I remember.

Next question is the gearing on petrol transit dohc gearbox and 2.5di diffrent? If the are which is best

Three types of gearings, only affecting 1st 2nd if I remember. W8, C8 and E8 are the codes on the boxes. W8 is wide ratio box used on 5.14 axle for heavy loads (tippers and the like). C8 is close ratio = better. Forget what the other is, think even better somehow...

I think 5th is universal being a 0.82 gear ratio...although 0.76 is on some car boxes, don't think its on any Transit boxes.

Anyway, I think the bellhousing on DOHC boxes and 2.5Di Transit boxes are different so you can't mount up with V6 adaptor plate with DOHC box. And SOHC (Pinto) used a standard 2.5Di box with a different adaptor plate again to mount to pinto. What code is on the sticker on the box?

if you have a transit dohc mt75 that wont bolt to the boa

yes it has been done - guy88 i think used one - have a search on here i think there are some pics and details not a straitforward job tho

I might be mistaken here but I think I read that a transit van pinto flywheel can be redrilled to fit the v6?

i'm not going auto either, i drove my cossie granny about for 11 months and when i first got it i thought it was dog slow, all the hype about them being fast? nah, it was a big dissapointment. the auto box was designed to breeze execs about in comfort, all too keen to change up a gear, as an auto it was lazy and only showed its teeth in brief overtakes before climbing another gear all too soon.

Then i started driving it about in 2nd and 3rd on the stick, what a difference! sideways no11's everywhere upto 50mph, roll on, roll off, boot it, clouds of white smoke i blew the box to bits after a couple of months
