marker lights / SIKA 221 sealant

Postby jimmynewbs » Tue Feb 15, 2011 11:23 am

I'm thinking of putting a set of marker/ clearance lights on the roof front. I'm debating to have them amber coloured like these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
or to have some white ones instead to keep all the lights white (will have a set of decent LED DRL lights as well like the RIng Lryra ones that dim with headlights on.

Anyone seen other with amber or would it look better in white, or even a mixture of the two at the front?

Also, ive got some SIKA 221 sealant that i'm using to seal down my large roof window... would this be good to use to seal the lights down? - Don't want leaks but i've heard this stuff is strong, and will I have issues replacing them if one blows?

Thanks!

i struggled to find any decent looking white ones that had a decent profile shape that didn't break the bank.. there was a load on ebay at like a quid each but at that price I can't see them being any good. It's going to have an insulated roof so don't want any leaks coming through on a bad seal!

I ordered the ones ones in my first post as I like the shape... I wanted white, but then with headlights, spots, DRL's etc i thought that i'd have enough white... :D

Just need to find a brake light now. can't seem to find one I can mount to the roof...

looking good!

thats just how i'm going to have mine... just deciding if I want any more down the side etc...
gonna have two more red's on the rear above the standard.
got two spots to mount on the rear for reversing, DSL's abd fog's to go in... with all that and a break light I might have to give the spots a miss unless anyone on here wants a kindey

Lighting of Vehicles act 1963 states:

- All forward facing lights must be white/yellow
- all low side lights amber (good vehicles etc
- all high side lights red back white forwards (good vehicles etc
- Rear lights must be red.

All other lighting colours are illegal especially blue which are reserved for emergency vehicles only.
The law states that you must not fit any lights that may be a distraction to other road users.

What the law told me here in Ireland

led,s are the biz, the current draw is minimull and the heat too, i just fitted them to a coach, 5 amber down each side, 2 red upper rear, 2 white upper front, sealant on the roof ones, as they are sealed units i dont anticipate touching them for a year or so, i was sick of replacing or wiggling bulbs full of water. :)
