Opinions on the lights please.

Postby rover » Fri Sep 01, 2006 12:40 pm

Just done a quick job on the back lights, not sure how legal they are gona be but they do still flash a shade of orange :lol: I just dont fancy clear ones on the back with the red paintwork (nor could I afford them at the mo!), didnt really want to tint them black either so this is what I have come up with....

Not 100% sure I like them so lets have some opinions please.

Cheers Mark :)

I've just been to see my mate (who has an up-to-date M.O.T test cert, cos I dont) and he reckons I just need to get a couple of reflectors as the light units dont reflect anymore, cant find anything in the testers manual that says the indicators must be amber.....they just cant show white light, which obviously they dont :lol:

Will see how it goes.

@Luke

I dont reckon it would look right, theres two light coats of paint and two laquer coats, I thought the same about the reversing lights as well so I masked them to start with.......just didnt look right so I stripped it back and started again. I will get some from the scrappy next week(or the week after, or the week after that Or the... :lol: and try a different way I think... they'll do for now :)

@MVM

Yeah I was very surprised when I looked in the testers manual, and now you say SVA dont require amber either :shock: I know a lot of yank vehicles have red indicators but assumed they had some sort of exemption.....obviously they dont need it :lol:

Will see if I get pulled over the next few days :roll:

Thanks for the input guys :D

can you get blue????? :? 8) they look 8)
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

Cheers :D

Do em any colour you like Cam :D All I did was get some clear red and mix it 50/50 with Radiant red (colour of back end of van) then added thinners and hardener, then laquer from a can, you just need to coat it thin enough so it dont affect the lights, and with yours you need to make sure you still have RED tail and stop lights showing through :D

i think blue might be asking for trouble :lol: my mk1 lights got knock back on MOT (but allowed through) on having orange red lights :lol:

rover - i know what you mean - about not looking right- i don't think some reflectors in the bumper would look out of place tho :D
