Changing a set of rear seats round 180 degrees

Postby Kwudjokwan » Fri Oct 13, 2006 3:29 pm

Can any1 tell me how to change a set of rear seats around so that they face the other way.
I have to do this for a Taxi test and would like some advice as to go about putting another set of holes to screw the bench onto. :(
Thanks G

Which row do you want to move? Is it a minibus or a Tourneo?

It is as 9 seat Tourneo and I wish to change round the middle seats, so that they face the rear seats.

This would NOT be possible as the seatbelts bolt to the seat frame...

By turning the seat round the seat would not be mounted to the floor on 'factory' holes.......Therefore the van would NEVER pass a MOT.

I'm amazed your Taxi licencing would ask for this!

I would ask them if they would pass your van on a council Private Hire / Hackney test.

I VERY much doubt it!!

Surely If the work is done and is taken for an engineers report and passed the MOT can't fail it?

Only the first center seat can fold down and that is one of the reasons it has to be changed as the rules say access cannot be attained past folding seats. Also the end seat belt of the middle seats goes across the access to the rear seats, so it was deemed unsuitable.
I have been told to install lap seat belts instead.

No, rear facing seats don't need seat belts, unless there has been a drastic change in the laws very recently I don't know about

Yes my seats are exactly the same as that. Is there a way to change the middle seats round?

I would need to have the back of the middle seats up against the back of the front seats for legroom.
