Speeding laws in 2007?

Postby bikehunter » Sun Dec 03, 2006 6:43 pm

I have an offer on a 2ltr 300 Transit Mk6 2001 and was wondering if any body can clear up the matter of the new speed limits for the new year?
Is this going to apply to all Mk6's? Many thanks!

Over 3.5 tons are going to be governed to 60mph.

:( over 3.5ton you will be limited to 56mph next year, better on fuel and less maintence ,its average speed what makes the difference on a journey not top speed ,doing 56 mph in my lorry at night i can assure you the same vans will overtake me a couple of times, they always seem to stop at service stations then come out do 90 then 80 then 70 it is not consistent, and thats where mpg suffers ,try doing 52mph in a truck instead of 56mph you will always have space in front of you less fuel less stress, and all the whoppers will be overtaking stressed out ,i do do 56mph if its quiet, try it in your van do 65 quieter less fuel used and you can relax, and cover just as much ground as a knob whos speed fluctuates up and down and who stops every 30 mins and gets held up by law abiding folk it is the hare and tortoise fing

From a personal point of view it's not very good news for us guys in the delivery game being stuck at 90km/h - but it does make a lot of difference on fuel costs. I was running my own 7.5 tonner for a few years, and although I only do about 45 minutes each way on the motorway - morning and evening - dropping from 70-75 down to 55-60 was saving me at least 5 litres a day - and that's a lot of fuel saved over the year!
From four vans to two :-(

Sounds like me - small bladder and a dry mouth means lots of stopping and overtaking
