36 hours before we set off to Norway and the catalytic converter has started rattling

Why do these sort of things never go wrong a couple more days before the journey

The only good bit of news is that I can get an aftermarket one fitted today within walking distance of the hamster and guinea pig's boarding home so saves too many journeys
