Intercooler

Hi All,
Whats the difference between the 100PS and 115PS 2.5TD engines?
As far as I can see it's only the intercooler. Does this mean I can get an extra 15bhp by fitting an intercooler or do I need the ECU re-programmed
I fitted a thermocouple into the air intake the other day just to see how hot it was at maximum turbo pressure, 12psi, just before the waste gate opens the air temperture was above 90°C. It was probably higher than this as the thermocouple takes time to heat up. At this temperature I would think you could get quite a benifit from an intercooler.
Anyone got any experience fitting one?

i am fitting a turbo lump to my mk1 soon and i will be fitting a intercooler
and possably a bigger turbo i will let you know how i get on

yes i have experience of that dont bother,i fitted an intercooler to a 1997 turbo di spec lift i had and no matter what we tried it couldnt hold a steady speed, great while accelerating but try to level off the speed and it starts hunting,we ,thats me and a turbo expert i know tried evedrything including putting some vacuum reducing items in amongst the vac pipes they have but no good,then we gave up and removed it all.
