why do they only put marker lights on chassis cabs and not low roof vans or even why do they fit them at all ??

GOOD QUESTION PHIL , OFTEN WONDERED THAT MYSELF BUT I DONT KNOW THE ANSWER , PERHAPS ITS AN OPTION WHEN BYING A VAN FROM NEW ????

some mates i used to work with made a trailrer once from a caravan chassis and that had to have front marker lights by law as it was more than 1.6m wide. is that it ????

could be the cabs not wider but all bodies are pick up ,bt box ,luton etc

The funniest bit is when they have to put little cut outs in the front lower edge of a luton body so you can still see them! :lol:

All to do with construction & use regs, depends on body lengh.
35 years of driving,repairing,sleeping in transit's lovin every minute.

It is indeed a construction regulation,
The side markers are also fitted to the jumbo variant too.

They are not covered by the class 7 mot though, if the transit was one of the large capacity 4.3tonne vehicles it'd need a test at a VOSA site and then they must work.

I have em on me recovery so i can see where the overhang is going on dark nights and tight corners :lol:

What year does this start from? Extras have been around since there has been transits, (we have a P reg camper at 22ft, and a Mk2 85 luton at 25ft). We like em big! :lol: The luton has been fitted with side and cab markers, but didn't come with them.

I fitted marker lights on my truck and transit just so i can see the back and sides in the dark when reversing down my street.I live in a short close 100 metres with no turn round place in it.(to many cars parked in the road)without street lights.(I live in a village of 150 people)
