DON'T FORGET SWITZERLAND & AUSTRIA ARE NOT E.E.C.

Sorry to butt in but Switzerland, Austria, Norway and a few others, although not members of the EU (no such thing anymore as the EEC), belong to an insurance group that accepts the same agreement as the EU, so if your insurance is valid in the EU it is valid those countries.

Most fully comp policies provide European cover at the fully comp level, for trips not exceeding 30 days, but you MUST check your policy, or call your brokers/Insurance company to ensure that this is the case.

Also, don't forget breakdown insurance. It can quite often be cheaper to get a policy that covers you for a year (with trips not exceeding 30 days at a time) than to buy short term cover :) The AA and RAC are particularly expensive. Shop around on the internet. Quoteline Direct do a good annual recovery plan for about £65.
