I have just got GIT insurance, to cover me for courier work and for house removals cost me £392 with £15000 liability. If you are just doing courier work would be cheaper with a higher liability, seems they don't like insuring you for removals. Got a deal with a local self storage warehouse and expecting plenty of work from students in halls who are away for the summer and need to put there belongings in storage, well worth looking into if you don't mind a bit of hard graft.

ps. have been doing this for 6 months without GIT insurance and been lucky, it is only now things are picking up that I have got cover. If something had gone wrong it would have been the end of my venture. I started on an extremely tight budget but if you have the cash to spare it is well worth it for piece of mind.

Business use Insurance will only cover you for your own goods in connection with your Business. IT will not cover carrying Other Peoples Goods for Hire and Reward. It is a Issue you should Deal with Quickly. If you are serious about this earner on the side you Should Have Goods In Transit ,Public liability and Employers Liability Cover as Well. This is avaliable as a Package and depending on the amount of Cover you require £400 should cover it.

I lay out Over £2000 a Year in Insurance Premiums before i earn a Penny.

You will find that the General public Ebayers etc are not really bothered about GIT insurance just the Cheapest Price until you Scratch or Break Something  You could have In Your Terms & Conditions of Carriage that you accept No Responsibilty for any goods Carried but you would have to get this signed by the person paying after making them aware of the Fact.

Commercial Customers are a bit more stringent on GIT Insurance and will ask to see a Copy of your Policy prior to engaging you to work for them.

I have certain Clients that i regularly carry £100 k,s worth of HD Tele's for which they Insure and accept full Liabilty for as long as the Vehicle is Double Manned and never Left without one Person in it at all times .
