To Trolley or to bottle?

Postby Scooby doo » Fri May 14, 2021 8:21 pm

Got you reading lol
Tho seriously, with jacks which is best?
Looking at bottle jack, 5t should be plenty for these girls and it will fit neatly in under the passenger seat or wherever I think up off…
Question is, yes I do use axle stands, but which one to go for, trolley or bottle, trolleys are considerably more expensive, clumbersum to use as well…

I’ve always used a bottle Jack on my transit at home the twin wheel van comes with one but I have a bottle Jack out of a Ford Cargo as well that has a twin piston and a screw out extension so got a very good lift hight I looked at a trolley Jack but it would be to big to carry in the van but would be better for lifting the front of the van.

I'd prefer having a trolley Dolly in-flight than a bottle

Oh it's jack's were talking about

I like a trolley jack in the workshop or at home but only carry a bottle in the van.
Purely cause most of the time it's used for doing stuff on machines or the vans on some ground that a trolley jack's buggerall use

If I had the room I’d carry a trolley Jack but hopefully I don’t get a puncture I have to change at the side of the road not counting work but I think I’ve not had to change 10 at the roadside in 48 years but saying that 3 of them where on the mk6 jumbo in 11 years.

No chance of that it always rains so that’s what the RAC is for they can get wet and has a x bus mechanic I’ve a lot of experience of breakdowns in lay-bys and thinking about it 3 of my punctures have been off road on a rally stage so in that case the bottle Jack was the best option apart from one of them another Marshall with a Landrover had one of those air bags you inflate off the van exhaust that must have been the easiest puncture I ever did.

Milwaukee the spare down with home made adapter for to lower cable quickly and retrieve the spare and fit to van ,
put punctured wheel into van ,
let jack down and put back in van,
all done in 5 mins and still not lay in the p!ss

Spare wheel…
I keep mine in the van as it’s a sport wheel and don’t think it’ll fit under the van

Spare wheels are for pussies, where’s your sense of adventure  trolley jack for me, mucho easier then fannying around with a bottle jack, unless space is an issue then a bottle of jack takes less room.

Well iv ordered a bottle jack, makes a change from ordering a bottle of jack
Do like to keep a spare, these alloys are soft with air in the tyres, they even softer without air in them..
Tho be nice if mine could fit in the spare wheel holder under the van, it takes up a lot of room in the back of the van, tho with a bean bag inside it it doubled up as a gaming chair for the Nintendo
