Lead times 9-12 months

Postby hughesyn » Mon Feb 14, 2022 1:17 pm

Just ordered a new van, quoted 9-12 months lead time.
Transit 350 L3 H2 auto 170 FWD DCIV.

Last year it was 6 months, that was bad enough.

On the plus side, there are a load of new toys like 12" screen, 360 camera, blind spot warning, electic parking brake, digital rearview mirror (although can't be orded on DCIV which is annoying).
Also seems to have fully automatic air con on the top pack, although I'm not entirely convinced.

I guess this is now the Mk 8.75

Wonder if these new toys will make it to the Custom?

Unfortunately there are 'no plans' to bring this tech to the Custom. Not that it matters, with the recent price increases it's pushed it out of my price range. Bugger.

From the latest info i got, leadtimes will be much longer.
My order from 09/2021 should now be build in juli (not sure yet, as dates keep getting changed), it was planned to be build 01/2022, build dates 6 months delayed.
Ford contacted me directly with a build period, but ended up not beiing build again....
In juli they should start with orders from 08/2021-12/21...

Dealer told me ford sold a lot more than they can build in 2021, thats why they were not taking orders the last couple months.

Sorry for the bad news.

Have there been any spec changes from your original order? I know some Fiestas and Focus' are being delivered with some of the standard equipment missing, auto-fold heated door mirrors, internal door lock switches, etc. due to the semi-conductor shortage. Wondering if the Transit is having the same production issues?

No.
Ford did a check of the order to make sure it could be build, no issues.
It seems they have a 6 month delay in the manufacturing because of to many orders in 2021 (so they say).
Don't know if it is truth, ford doesnt seem very honest in their communication (my experience).
Not to say worst buying experience ever, no follow up, no communication between Ford and dealernetwork...

Ordered a Tourneo Custom L2 130 Auto around the end of Oct 21 and haven't even had a build date yet  Thankfully the Dealer gives me updates via text every few weeks saying 'sorry no updates at the factory'

Mine was ordered in February 2022, I am still assuming delivery around December 2022.

Anyone had a Transit delivered in the last year?
With 3 weeks it will be a year, since ordering, still no news from Ford.
Ford dealer still waiting on orders from april 2021 and so on...

Starting to wonder if the Transit is still a active model .

Its the same with all vehicles tbh - the parts to build them just arn't available in the quantities needed. If things kick off in Taiwan it will get even worse

I ordered a MAN Van July, expected build slot April 2023. In three years like for like spec price has increased £12 k.

I have managed to secure a pre ordered and spec’d one for September 2022 build through another dealer. Although the spec is far beyond what I want I’ll suffer the extra money for the quicker delivery. I haven’t cancelled the other one yet.

I have been looking at alternative makes with a open mind on make, and there are loads of new unregistered Transits around of varying spec. All very strong money though. Not the £40k prices they want for Sprinters though, plus Mercedes’ are increasing prices by 10% January £50 k for a lbw Van

What sort of discounts are dealers giving at the moment for factory builds? Does the fact a new Custom is due next year affect things?

I'm not in any real rush for one so don't mind the wait but I can't justify spending nearly £50k RRP on an almost outgoing model that was only £34k a couple of years back - and back then the sales chap said 'we'll probably be able to knock a bit more off if you want to go ahead'. If only I knew then what I know now.....

My local dealer seems completely uninterested in selling anything at the moment so can't get any idea from them...
