Mot question.

Postby loot » Tue Jun 04, 2024 2:39 pm

I know the answer but could do with opinions.

In an effort to make the new can not look old I've bought some headlights and front bumper and tail lights.

They don't have any markings and will be lhd fitment.

So technically are illegal.

They don't have leds etc and aren't anything special.

I don't think the mot guy will be too bothered and the lights will just be adjusted so they don't blind people. I believe the pattern rules have been modified.

My options are to just try the mot or something else

What say you guys? :P

My "beams" had to be adjusted last year for MOT, and all that I had done was to fit some brighter bulbs, so your LHD ones may struggle to meet regs :o

They're genuine transit lights :P

On imported cars you used to point them left didn't you? :?
Do you think they'll have a problem with no E markings?

Do what we used to do back in the day fit the original lights for the mot then switch them back once you have a pass, remember taking the spare tyre out or swapping wheels with mates cos your tyres were a bit iffy back last century

It'll work for the first mot but once I swap the bumper too then I won't really fancy a big effort each mot

 that's what I'm hoping but he'll know the lights aren't regimental, so he might get excited and come back to me with his smirk

I'm sure that's just me being paranoid. The guy I use is firm but fair. He's passed mine before when it needed a little nudge to help, ie not flooring it on the high tickover test, but also he advises everything, from knocks and squaks to the drivers seat smells like chicken.

What does the bumper have to do with changing lamps ?? What CAN are you talking about mate and yes lhd lights would fail beam patterns.....could always put the stick on beam change thingies that foreigner holiday makers use , the opposite to the ones we got to use over the sea
