E transits

Postby Ray Austin » Thu Feb 13, 2025 10:43 pm

Been doing some research on the e transits and the fact they have a higher GVW. So the governments have moved the goal post as they are now over 3.5 ton now can be 4.25 but still able to driven on a car licence. Are they the same as the 3.5 ton diesels the same brakes suspension etc. Pity the don't start producing diesel van that have a higher GVW maybe 4.0 tons. Compared with transits I drove 40 years the payload of most modern van is rubbish . Their is more emission control dpf they are bigger van all add the the weight so reducing the payload. Have a few whats van magazines from the late 80s and the payload for a lwb transit is 1928 kg. A modern transit as a payload of 1300 kg.

Would assume it's all different underneath and with the weight of the batteries and electric motors they wouldn't be selling any if they didn't get the goal posts moved

For me they should have done the the regulations on size not weight my camper built on a 460 x Minibus so now I’m over 70 I have to renew my license every year with a medical requirement instead of 3 years the limit should be upto 6.5 meters.
