What's yours called...........?

Postby FredTransit » Mon Apr 04, 2005 10:39 pm

Anybody else out there given thier van a name? All of ours have got names, usually they begin with the registration year letter. We can remember every one and they are as individual as fingerprints, but our drivers and mechanic still get them mixed up. The one exception in our case was our first, TUB 230M, who we called Tubby, cos of her plate. Our panel is Alex, then the lutons Bea, Beryl, Bayb (the letters on her plate), Bianca, Cleo, Cheryl, Carla, Charlotte (our only one bought new), minibus Camile, custom Shelby (after the Mustang), classic (damaged) Kay and camper Pauline. But they all get called various other names when they won't start, or stop suddenly, usually after making nasty noises and immiting a cloud of smoke or p*ssing out oil, or water or both.......

So, what's yours called, I am sure we are not the only ones here that give vans names.

We call the mini bus "the old girl" just seems to have stuck!! and now after the rebuild seems to be called "the new girl", but i'd love to customise her and give her a proper custom van name!!! :D

We call the pick up the "cabbage patch van" cos thats where she's spent most of her time since ive had her!!! :(

When you have that many fred i think you've got to give em names, i once stamped a keyring with "blue transit van" and at the time i had 3 blue transit vans!!!

I was devestated when we lost Billie in an accident a year ago in January, felt worse than when we lost on of the dogs. You (that is I) expected never to have to part with her, we bought her from the scrappie who sells us a lot of our engine, ditched the curtainsider body, found a luton body, had her painted, fitted the marker lights, new seats, the whole nine yards. Then some French b*stard falls asleep at the wheel of an artic and squashes her, nearly killing the two guys in her in the process

Hope you got better and smacked him one! Our Billie was 21' long and 10' high, a bit immaterial if you are asleep  See not for the faint hearted in gallery, here -
