Ordered new e custom transit but unable to deliver.

Postby Videodoctor » Tue Mar 24, 2026 9:17 pm

Hi Guys,I have bought a brand new E transit custom from Evans Halshaw Preston and was due to take delivery last Friday of one of their stock models but unregistered.
I have been informed that Ford have issued a recall on all 16" tyres fitted to new Transits and that my dealer is unable to register my vehicle.
My dealer even offered to change the tyres themselves which they have in stock but Ford refused stating that they have to wait for delivery of a fix before any more Transits are registered.
This recall is evidently affecting all 26 plate transits with Enterprise having to suspend renting them out.
I am currently in a hire van which is costing me £235 per week.Ford say they don't have a date that this will be fixed.
Quite frankly I'm very disappointed in Ford customer service and I've not even got the van yet!
Has anyone else heard of this recall because I smell something fishy due to the vague nature of the recall and lack of definite dates for a fix.

I have now cancelled my order with Evans Halshaw and bought a 75 plate e custom in grey with 300 miles on the clock and ply lined. It cost £5000 less as well so Evans Halshaw Preston did me a favour.

Sounds like a wise decision. Even if I had the wherewithal, (which I don't!) I would hesitate to buy a new modern vehicle, as they seem to suffer with problems that dealers can't fix, or don't know how to, or lack of supply for the spare parts necessary to fix them :( :?

we got 2 at my work place while they do go well the range once loaded is really bad in real world range anxiety they get 100 miles on average i think one did get 150 miles before bottling and recharging. might get 200 miles if empty and really light foot and down to 10 percent charge left if u risk that
