Hi,
I need to spend ++at least a week++ working on my '89 camper van bodywork to bring it back to respectability, including a full respray, but I don't have or know anyone who has a big enough garage/workshop to do this in - the main reason it's got in a state.
Anyone in the far southwest have or able to suggest a suitable enclosed space I could do this? I can't afford commercial rates, and have all the necessary tools, even generator if necessary. I'll "camp" in the actual van while working on it, bring all gear in a tow-a-van trailer.
My plans are
to do some rust repairs on the sills and some scrapes in those areas
remove the gutters and cover the area with flat reinforcing plate and fill smooth
repair/replace rear door pillars
reskin rear doors with ally sheet.
paint the lot - fading from plain daimond white at bottom to metallic pearl white on upper body.
Why? Not least cos I built the thing in 1996, and am the only owner since Transco had 56k out of it, but it also has numerous mods/features making it much more useful to me than later machines... it turns in spaces more recent vans can't, and worries new vehicle drivers when it cruises effortlessly past them....
Thanks for thinking...
Best, Trev
