Tale of woe

Postby tbird » Sun Dec 16, 2007 5:00 pm

Hope all who got to Northern meet had a good time. I only made it to my father's house when I noticed strange rattle at rear of van. Exhaust tail pipe had disappeared behind bumper ! Looked underneath and exhaust mid pipe had pulled out of front box. :( :( :(
Exhaust looks OK, I think weld on box failed so may be able to weld up again.
Next Northern meet I'll be there ???

The auto choke was playing up, engine was running rough at tickover. With engine bouncing about must put strain on exhaust joints. Fitted manual choke which has sorted tickover.

Exhaust is what was on when got van beginning of year. Hoping that when I get a good look it only needs welding. According to receipts that came with van, exhaust fairly new, it certainly doesn't look rotten. Although the Mrs has had cars that the exhaust looks good but have rotted out around welds into silencer.

Exhaust successfully repaired, pipe had pulled out of back of front box. Metal sound, weld had failed.
