I was bimbling along at 55 mph without a care in the world when all of a sudden the 24V started knocking and blew up on me....
Not a happy teddy bear!

My mates dragged me along the hard shoulder up to the services where i waited 8 hours for the AA to get there finger out...
After leaving it at a secure compound at Croyden we then caught up with the others and had a fantastic weekend at Gaydon - wasn´t going to let it get me down!!!
Anyway, good job i have international recovery, the ADAC (german AA) are sorting the transport out and with a bit of luck i should have it back home within a couple of weeks.....
Oil pressure and level were fine, water temp too. Slight knocking followed by a big bang and a hole in the sump!!!
The engine had only done 120,000 miles and was running great...

Only thing I can think of is oil starvation but i´ve done about 2000 miles since the conversion. I had to use a smaller sump to clear the front beam so maybe there wasn´t enough oil in the system...?
I´ll probably never find out but it looks like i´ll be making a new front axle so that I can use the original sump on the replacement engine.
