Ford lays off workers

There is the building it's self as well, but to be honest I feel that Ford are using this as an excuse. What would they do if they did demolish the building?

im not a 100% on this but i dont think ford actually own the land there ! same bloke owns the airport land aswell ! but obviously has compulsory orders from the caa and also had a little road built through it

Ford do rent the site, they also still rent them on a very old contract which states £5000 a year if I remember correctly.

would be a shame to see it gone if they built in the car parks and over/under wide lane it could be a huge site! dont think they can go higher due to the planes ive done two temp contracts there one in A building spot weld bulkheads and inner wings for the line on mk5s and another at the top of C building on the door line before the top of C building became the canteen due to the vibration of forklift and weight of the lines caused structual fatigue mmm canteen did lovely custard though and jam roly poly

I was up there when they were ripping it all out back in 2002 just after they had fitted it out.

And yes they are limited on height, used to get told off when I went to high in the cherry pickers.

yeh thats right i remember now that it wasnt long after fitting out my mates dad has just retired a lifer had a cushty job too maintainence engineer.

Used to be, hasn't been cushy job since about 2005 when they got rid of the boiler house\sleeping area.

... isn't that a final nail in the coffin of British industry.. why doesn't the government just sell the country to the first person willing to buy it? I think I'm not just going to change employment but country and nationality... trouble is it's a slow boat to China

coming from coventry the home of the car industry look at the cars we have built over the years

rootes rover standard massey ferguson jaguar peugeot triumph etc etc

all gone im with you this country is dead

all coventry has now is lti taxis and they are going soon

was talking to my old gaffer who worked with me in allied taxis up here

he said allied are pulling out of coventry aswell and shifting back to glasgow

to a purpose built production line for the merc based M8 and pug based E7

so take it lti wont be to long in pulling out as there both jumping into bed aswell
