I was once told if your front pads are under a certain thickness you could be failed on the test and 1 more extra on the test but cannot remember, but im sure some one will corect me if im wrong, i will endevour to find out of a tester i no when i see him next.

You have a minimum allowable thickness of 1mm on yer pads :wink:

1.5mm actually Mr M but how on earth are we supposed to measure it? :lol:

Measuring is the problem and thats why I say 1mm cos if its that low there are no arguments, to all intents and purposes there is no way of measuring them whilst on the vehicle. I may be old skool as a past tester but that rule has servedme well for the past 33 years :wink:

practically on the disc when they're that low aren't they :D

Trouble is, if the disc has a lip on it it can make the pads appear lower than they are. In the past I have had appeals from cheapskates who took the effin pads out and measured them!! So as you say, if they appear to be on the disc then out they go!

it amazes me when people do this because pass or fail when they're that low they're in need of attention anyway so why don't they just get on with it and thank us for pointing it out instead of splitting hairs

Yip i agree (and if it saves your disks that's a bonus in my book) and you should never take chances with your brakes.
