One year on,customer relations etc etc.

Postby Dominik1968 » Mon Dec 22, 2008 11:01 pm

Hi Folks! :D

Well in been a little over a year since i took delivery of my first MK7 Transit and so far so good with only minor problems and that's with over 100,000 miles now on the clock!
The van (a Jumbo 140 GLX model in Colorado red) has just had the front tyres replaced and it looks like the rear ones will need changing soon, the front tyres were on the rear until about 80,000 miles then i swapped them around,so not too bad from a set of Hankooks and the rear brake pads have just been changed for the first time with the fronts still ok for a good few miles yet.I did like a lot of people have to wait quite a long time for an EGR valve but to be truthfull it did'nt cause any problems.Had a couple of electrical faults but that was eventually traced to a wire which had rubed against a screw that was holding one of the lining bourds in the load area in place and it had shorted out,it sadly took my local Ford Transit specialist  several attempts to find and fix it but it looks like it's all sorted now.
For variouse reasons i am bloody fed up with my Transit dealers and i may go into more at another time and place, however if anyone can at all be botherd to read this from Ford Motor Company then i hope they read this....
Your vans are amongst the very best that money can buy, sadly i cannot say that same about all too many of your dealers,i should'nt have to go back time and time again to get the same fault sorted out and i should'nt have to let them know how unhappy i am in no uncertain terms with there service to get the job finaly sorted out, they should just do it right pretty much everytime! To get the electrical fault sorted out i calculated that with one of my other vans and driver to come and collect me and take me to collect the van again several times it took over 130miles and around 8hours of our time! Now i expect vans to go wrong, anyone that says that there Mercedes etc never goes wrong is a damm lier! What i don't expect is 2nd class service to back up and 1st class van.
Would i buy another Transit?Well yes i would and have, another red Jumbo but this time it's in the newer 'Trend' spec with another on order for delivery in March,i've been asked 'why you stick with Transits' and the answer is simple.I 'love' my Transits,i find them comfortable, mostly reliable, cheap (ish) to operate and they have quite a high British content and all those points matter to me,a lot!!

Anyway time for a rest, off for a cup of tea and a mince pie or two now.......

WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS ~ DOMINIK.

By you do some miles. My own JUMBO has been in for a turbo type screeching 4 times, but my main dealer cannot find the fault, Only comes on when under load 3/4 to full throttle and loaded about a ton, thats about 10,000 miles ago. So when they offered an extra 3 year warranty I took it. Love driving it, the best Jumbo with twin rear wheels. J.L.
35 years of driving, repairing, sleeping in transit's lovin every minute.
