my hols in Malta

Postby Luke » Sun Apr 05, 2009 9:03 pm

some of you will have known i was away last week i went on holiday to Malta 8)

definatly recommended for any classic car/van enthusiast 8) thought i'd post a few of my transit snaps here :D there are still so many mk1/2's being used great to see 8) lots of minibusses in mk1/2/3s aswell but unfortuantly being phased out over time :(
also the malta buses will all be gone soon EU rules

heres a small selection of my pics - most of these were just driving round - sods law i didnt have my camera when i saw really nice ones

in no partucular order :D

for some reason the maltesers seem to prefer phase2 mk2's almost every mk2 has been converted to plastic grill and larger rear lights - aslo the mk1's - opposite way to us

and 99% of the pickups have the skirt round them - from maltatransit's pics i always thought it was fibreglass but its sheet metal work :D

while i was there i met up with malta transit and redeemer :D BIG thanks guys for showing me round and looking after me for the day 8) 8)

here's a pics of me with Karmnus mk2 8) 8)

and here's us all together :D

Nice pics, I can't believe the EU will do away with those lovely old buses :( . Me and the missus were there many moons ago and those buses were great. Especially the turbos, f*ck me I never knew a 40 year old bus with 35 ppl on it could go so quick

Any of you willing to come, best time to do so is in summer 8) 8) so you might go back sunburnt

About the buses , the old ones , some of them are restored by a sheet metal working firm, which is now closed down due to enviorment bull sh**t, and most of them are fitted with reconditoned or later engines such as Perkins 8) and Leyland 's with turbos 8)

Great holiday Luke

This just goes to show that with members all over the world it is very easy to make connections with people, with a common interest.

Last year I hooked up with a Dutch member which was cool, and thats why I missed the Scottish weekend !!

no pictures though

So how much does it cost to import the dying vans from Malta ?
