Tyre Size Selection

I know this subject has come up before and a very useful size guide site has been posted too.

What i want to know here is how many of you are running 195's on standard twin rear wheel 14" setups (preferably mk2 wheels)

I am curious, as i thought 195's would rub at the back, but the Genuine Ford service/workshop manuals state 195 R14C, only coming down to 185's for the 175 or lower rated vans

so what you guys got fitted and what observations have you found ?... as i need 7 of the little b@$t@rds, so will be looking to do a deal with my usual tyre supplier

We run 185X14's on the 190 twin wheelers, that's what our original one came with in 1986 so that's what we have always replaced them with. The last set of 6 non famous brand tyres we got was £260.

Are you sure?? Have you ever travelled up a motorway and seen bits of tyre lying in the road? Retreads.

Personally I wouldnt touch retreads or remoulds, I had a pair of retreads on the front of a 1981 Cortina, one of them let go whilst I was on the A52 and it put me in the barrier when the car was recovered there was a six inch lump of tread completely missing from the off side tyre.... Never again!!

sound advice there not worth risking it especially in a van!!!! you can get cheapo far eastern tyres for as little as £19.99 each

After all, retreads are just a new tread bonded (read stuck) onto an old tyre. No offense BigMac, not for me.

yeah, retreads should be left to banger racing and farm vehicles or things like forklifts in scrap yards
