transits v sprinters

Postby becky » Wed Dec 06, 2006 6:46 pm

we all have our fave motors, on here its transits.

i like transits, i`ve had 5, with a new one on order.

but, i must confess, i nearly opted for a new sprinter.

on here the sprinter gets some stick, but why

whats the matter with a sprinter? has it got a bad rep or is it just playful banter

kev
jumbos do it standing up....

gotta disagree here, the later new models ain't as brillant with mainly the pistons going and engine going bang but merc will replace the engine under warntey.

dad has a r reg 316 i think 2.8 turbo diesel with the works, tracksion control, abs etc. etc.

uses it every day doing about 100 mile aday as a courier driver. Had the motor from new and I think it's at about 190k there or there abouts and is still going strong, Never had any major problems. Turbo was changed, the diesel injector overflow pipes seem to be a common problem due to them rotting away with the diesel eating into them, breaks, ball joints and the head gasket is on it's way out. I think he broke down once when the turbo blew but other then that it's been a solid vechile for him and he loves driving it.

or a careful driver..
worst bit with a sprinter is bad loading(putting heavy load on 1 side)
and i didnt get many call outs for a broken down sprinter...but a transit(it seemed like everyone never serviced them or had duff batterys on them and then wondered why it wont go!!)
