A truck engined Transit! Mabey some 6.0 non-Turbo diesel ford cargo unit? Or even some 44 tonne truck engines :twisted:

Has someone done this before? There must be loads of truck engine s sitting around.

This thread idea has been nicked from PPC (Practical Performance Car Magazine). Please add your own.

Id go for an 8.4l Sisu 24v common rail 320HP

What's about a RR Merlin/Meteor engine mid-mounted in a LWB MK1/MK2?

27 litres, plenty of torque and if you still feel underpowered you can even opt for a factory supercharger! :lol:

Yep, thats from PPC as well!

Have you seen in the latest issue about them buying one of those ex- fire engine transits from Germany?

They are gonna chuck a big V8 in it.

No, not even heard of it! The only car Merlin/Meteor equipped I know about is John Dodd's Beast!

Forget the cargo engine!
A greatly overbuilt engine, will virtually never wear out as it is stronger then it ever should have needed to be, but this gives it a reputation of being beaten to hell and still running for ever!

However all that over build (IMHO) gives it far, far too much weight and mass to be any use in anything!

6 times the wait of a transit engine, ranges between 60 and and 150 hp, admittedly with very good torque but now seriously out of date!

Mine is 286k miles, starts runs and drives like the day it was new and will only pull my cargo up a modest hill at 45 at best - however it will do that for hours and hours at 20 mpg, just no speed at all

my old cargo which i have just sold and the bloke drove it all the way back to north yorkshire!!!! :shock:

had over 400 thousand kilometres on it and always started even in the cold winters..(Was a 150 hp)

my ultimate engine woul;dnt be diesel it would be a V8 petrol turbo :twisted:

yeah it was the limited turbo one.with the stickers up the side of the cab.
