What do you want from a Transit? What is your ideal Transit?

Postby GBBiker » Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:22 pm

The MK6 and Di engine thread has given me a few laughs. It's also made me think  "What do I really want in an ideal van?"

1. I want a van that looks good in standard form. For me, this is the MK6 body.

2. I want an engine that is cheap to maintain, reliable and will happily cruise at 70-80 on the motorway. The MK5 Di Turbo is my choice.

3. I want 'creature comforts'. Not really specific to any Transit model, but I like leccy windows, heated seats, PAS, HID headlights, CL and decent ICE.

So, I guess my ideal van would be a MK6 Jumbo with a Di Turbo lump. The rest can be added as modifications as and when.

Anyone selling a MK6 Jumbo with a fooked engine or a Di Turbo lump?

How about you guys?

my ideal transit is what i'm building mk2 (best looking) shape cossy engine 8) i suppose ione day i'll swap the engine for something quicker (V8 TT mabe) but i want the van as an everyday usable vehicle so i have to have 'reasonable' mpg  the back i'll be fitting 3 more seats so i'll have a 6 seater with a nice load area to keep the practicality :D

i can honesly say if i won the lottery i wouldn't get rid of it - it'd recieve a lot of mods  and the engine and box would be on here in free to good home   but the van will always be mine

Small,caracteristic,go any where,extendable/expandable.
Interior layout to allow multiple uses.
Reliable and easily fixed when on the rd.
Free rd tax :D

TESSIE ,Mk1 pop top camper.
I miss her so much :(

I bought a Mk 3,liked driving it power steering n all that , but it had no caracter.
So i bought a big coachbuilt mk2 with a mk1 interior, hopeing it might feel like my Tessie, cos in the cab it looks the same but no.
A year down the rd i am about to sell the big beast as my circumstances have changed.
need to downsize.
I dream to have Tessie back and up n running nicely as shes my ideal vehicle.
Ive tried the rest n the first was the best ..definatly !
in my "new" van i get waved at not glared at ...Yeyyyyyyyyy :)

Def MK5 its like a balance of modern but still rough hardman stuff the newer ones look more like toys.

I personally like the big steering wheel and the noisy engine :D I do like the power steering but the other comforts just make it girly like
