Just driven MK6

Postby Cheese Monkey » Thu Mar 25, 2010 7:25 pm

Been out for a spin in a MK6 350 today. So much nicer to drive than my MK5. Damn I want one. Smooth engine, more power, smooth box, light clutch, reversing sensors, quiet, power steering :D . Not as comfy though! And the driving area feels huge, felt like a lorry.

Or maybe mine is just a bag of crap

Will be driving MK7s from now on every week n all!

Time to start saving?

mmmm I am thinking this too, I work on mk 6's every day, changing engines, seeing all the horror stories that go along with them, and am tempted too, I love di's, always will, loved my mk2, had a mk3, then mk4, then mk5, had 7 in total over the years.
All improve in one way or another
Progression is a great thing, hell yeah go for it, get one, i will....

many reasons why i got a mk6..no need to turn the sterio right up just to hear it..downside is i can now hear my wife telling me to slow down(never got told to slow down in a mk5)

Ok I find the mk5 is more comfy but is a pain to get to speed (and when loaded almost impossible) it is noisy but its cheap to repair runs and runs and runs however the engine will prob outlive the Van  overall a cheap runabout that will make you money if your business is based on it

However mk6 none of the cab layout makes sense and can cause RSI but the door handles are good yes when empty it does go well but when full they are not much better than a mk5 (if at all) and on top of that they also do less to the gallon and cost a small fortune each time they go wrong :!: and in all honesty I prefer the LDV Maxus to a mk6.

MK7 well I at least like the look of the mk7 I have not had a go in one yet but I am looking forward to getting my hands on 1 :D I may just hire one for the day to do a review

My overloaded MK7 would also out perform any MK5 you care to offer up, and its not been to vantuner (yet)

Hmm going to have another drive in a mk6 to see if I really did get a lousy one or these mk6's are being overestimated

If you drove an older 90ps with maybe a low ratio diff? then maybe i can understand where your coming from, The mk6 can get pretty sludged up due to the egr and having a cat :? knock the cat out de sludge it and blank the egr and there so much better! go and get a drive in a good 135tdci 8) as for mk7's there even better i want a swb 140 to replace the connect :D
