engine info need pls!!!! :?

right ive converted my 2ltr efi to a 2.5 di which im not happy with which i didnt think i would engines great and economical even pulls well but i hate the noise
i need to know which will be most economical if you could put them in order of best to worst want be a great helpso i can make my mind up the van is a everyday vehicle not do only average about 50 miles a day and petrol i get cheap at £2 a gallon but im thinking if this comes to an end like all good thigs do..
right heres my options
1. 2.0 pinto tuned

2. 3.0 v6 essex

3. 24v 2.9 cosworth

4. 3.5 v8

5. 3.9 v8

6. 4.2 v8

7. 5.0 v8 and above

i would also prefer to run an auto box on all of these if its not fuel guzzeling

i would prefer the v8 conversion
but i need to work out the mpg on them all if anyone can help

but its the diesel noise again though my efi you couldnt even hear it running and thats without sound proofing
plus i also want performance when i need it

modern dervs are very very quiet or just wait for the tdv8

hi luke sorry i thought you had do you have any idea what the mpg is on the cossie. live in the sticks so my daily routine is about 50 miles all round.
prob most ppl on here do a lot more then when its done ill have to add afew cruising miles as ya do

I reckon out of all of them, BEST case scenario would be about 18 mpg for the ones with more than 4 cylinders!
TDV6 is a great idea, 190+bhp, 320+lb/ft easily and doesn't sound too bad, definitely not the coarse sound of a 2.5Di anyway! Even available with a great autobox set up for rear wheel drive (and twin turbos that push the power up a bit further) if you get it from a crashed Jaguar. Would cost LOADS though I bet...

is that also used in the bmw 325td they dont sound to bad. another question the tdv8 do you still get the v8 sound or is it a tappity diesel sound cant ya just tell i love diesels

325td is a straight 6 otherwise just go buy a mk6 125 & chip it. Problem solved

you will end up spending loads of money! what -ever you decide to fit is alot of work ,and v8 will be even harder! its a tricky one!

Personall I would go with the Cossie, if you can keep you foot off the gas you should see 20mpg and that aint any different to a pinto! What you need to do if you do go that way is get everything you need before you start, otherwise you would be off the road for ages

checked my merc engine it seems shot seized up which i was expecting after all this time .
so i was thinking of putting the pinto in for now which a very kind chap off here has sorted for me. thanks rover .
but!!!! had an old mate phone today to say he was thinking of getting rid of his 7 series bmw brill engineand box body work fair but wait for it its running a v8 and auto box can have the whole car just need to agree a price think he said it was sat on a k reg and im not sure if he said a 735i or 740i something like that. iwas only half listening till the v8 word cropped up... so i now have several options on engines to choose from just got to decide which i want!

dont bmw do a diesel v8 and do they still sound like a v8 or a tappity diesel? anyone know
