Write off

Postby Terry » Thu Oct 26, 2006 9:01 pm

I know this is not of immediate help, but you can often buy the 'write off' back get it retested and back on the road.
Guy on the Scorpio site I also visit has just done it.
He has an M reg Scorpio Cosworth, and while visiting relatives in Wigan a woman driver pulled out on him. It wrecked the bonnet, bumper & n/s headlight. He gave the insurance company some grief and eventually got £900 and the wreck. The repair/parts cost him almost exactly a grand and its back on the road & he's well happy (he had the rear wheel arches 'tarted up' at the same time too !).

Write Off

Postby Terry » Thu Oct 26, 2006 9:14 pm

I don't know the full ins and outs but they 'classify' the write offs and if it is an 'uneconomical to repair' write off you can get it repaired re MOT'ed and back on the road, its all legal & above board !
If its just the electricals at the front, you should be able to buy a new loom & splice it with the original up in the cab somewhere, or even replace the whole thing.
