So what was the MPG?

Obviously it's a big heavy beast now so average speed is around 50 although it will sit at 60 comfortable and 70 at a huge push with a long run up! I'm happy plodding along and getting 40mpg, just dont get stuck behind me :-)

Cancel that figure but it seems way optimistic not sure why? (it was calculated when I had a Kmh speedo so maybe an error in the conversion) Since then I have swapped the speedo for a Mph one and it appears I am getting around 23 to 30mpg (could this have anything to do with speedo error?) over about 4 tankfulls.

I tell you what does appear to make a difference and that's where you get your fuel. Tesco fuel gives me the lower figures, and BP fuel the higher. Obviously I'm running fully loaded all the time as well (2900kg) so I guess it's not drastic? Though at current prices it's around £2.5k on fuel a year!

What you need to do if fill your van to the top drive around then refill to the top again then use THIS to calculate the MPG :D

also include any relevent details ie. body type, engine size type of driving and if you think your speedo is accurate

hopefully we should build up an idea of what mpg to expect from what van :!:

Do not post questions or related topics in this thread, they will be removed - this thread is just for the MPG your van has done :!:

DEC 1998S REG- SWB-low roof-no rack-2.5 diesel- plain van, I check it every fill up as I have done with all my vehicles for many years, the Transit is the best I have ever owned, it returns me between 30 and 37 to the gallon, all short work, NO B--- S---, and NOT living on another planet, careful driving is the key.

Mk5 SWB semi hi -1998 on an R. Driven carefully and I have three extra seats and all my clobber. I return at the present pump price about 30 round town. More on a motorway (Not Checked). It all comes down to the pump price.
I can remember putting a tenner in an astra estate and it was 75% full. Gone are them days.... Firkin ell I sound old.

Right put it this way. I put £10 of diesel in and return driven sensilbly 60 miles per tenner and yes round town and using all 5 gears. Regular filter, oil changes, correct tyre pressures and not screaming it on all gears thats the answer. I love hearing the engine and the right time to change gear.. its just below 2000 revs. No rev counter I just know. Grandad style. Whats the donkey.... its a 2.5 DI.

I'm getting 160 miles to a 55lt tank of LPG - never more, rarely less, with roof bars, ladders, loaded up, chunky driver to boot..
03 Dual Fuel MR MWB and now 66 Mk8 L2H2..
