Yes, and another silly law to go with it.....

Because of the contents of my van (pressurised inflamables ect) I am supposed to have a 'fire exit' sign in the back! even though I'm the only bugger that gets in there! and I couldnt get insured without a fire extinguisher in there too

well i got done for smoking in a work vehicle and i took it to court and won cos the van is single operator and the van was registerd in england at the time. its a big thing i fully agree with the smoking ban and i smoke i dont smoke even in the house if there is a non smoker in the house.
i work in pubs and clubs and since the ban came in it has been a blessing i could do a 6 hour shift and never have a craving for a fag cos i was breathing in 2nd hand smoke. now my shirts dont smell of smoke.....its just the blood shes gotta get out

I called up the helpline today to check on this. I told them I was self employed/sole trader with no employees and rarely had passengers as part of my business ( said maybe 4 times a year ) and was told I was free to smoke in my vehicle.

Its funny iwas watching a programme about how the nhs is saying it wont perform operations etc on people until they have given up smoking for a certain amount of time, the reason they say is that it is safer to do an operation on someone that doesnt smoke and they dont like taking unnecessary risks, so someone put the question to the spokesperson about passive smokers and how if it affects them as much as it is said it does then i presume there partner would have to give up or where ever the passive smoke is coming from, in order to pass the so called smoke test, which is an actual test to see whether you have smoked at all during the last coulpe of weeks or days, and the doctor said that the passive smokers test would be ok because the amount in then is vertually insignificant and will not be a problem, so it seems they change the goalposts as and when it suits there needs, .

This is just a reason to not give a person what they are entitled to and pay heavily for.smokers pay much more tax than a none smoker.whats next? too fat,too thin,too old,too young,wrong postcode,it will never stop.All you none smokers bleating,it will be your turn soon.there was a case recentley that have banned clowns at parties from using bubbles to entertain for the risk of slipping,whats next then banning jelly and ice cream,surley that proposes the same risk.theres no wonder this country is emptying of decent people by the hundreds of thousands every year.
Last point,when they did tests on passive smoking they turned up NO evidence to say that it was harmful in any way shape or form,yet since the goverment have crated this law to make money,theres been a complete uturn.

People have already been done for smoking in works vans. I work for asda, one of the home delivery drivers got spotted smoking in one of the splinter vans, got sacked and the company had a fine for allowing it to happen. Its the same with us driving the wagons. a truck is now classed as a "premises" because its a work area

just to let you know i gave up smoking a couple of yrs ago, but i still think people should be allowed to smoke.

i see the above laws broken every day...

how are they going to inforce the none smoking ban in vehicles...
only by self policing from the empolyers.

have you noticed since the none smoking laws come in...

all the door ways to shops etc are being bloked by smokers....

and every time the door opens, the smoke gets blown in the shop
