I do know my machanic very well and i went to pay him this morning. The reciept shows the following.

Labour 1hr @ £30

He said the rest was free of charge because i had done him a few good turns in the past by sending people his way. That might explain why it was so cheap

I use AM Motors in East Kilbride.

Thing is he has to keep the service well priced as the local Fords charge £89.99 for the full service, so if he charges any more folk will start going to fords.

we go on book times - not how long the job takes us (unless time has to be added for cutting etc) - so if the book time for a clutch is two and a half hours then thats what you pay - sometimes they can take an hour and a half, sometimes they can take three hours but the customer still pays for two and a half

on my example, for a full service and a brake inspection I charge an hour and a half - my hourly rate is £60 hence £90 labour
