pipp you have to work out how many miles you are going to do in the camper! otherwise converting it to di etc will take along time to get your money back! i done this when i had a petrol car ,i spent £1200 on it haveing it converted to gas and never got my money back, i worked it out it would of took me around 60,000miles before it started to pay for itself! mind you i wish i kept it! :)

Know where your coming from Mark, but i think veg oil could be the future for my camper, especially as the V6 is a non runner at moment. I have been offered a good 2.5 di and complete running gear for £300. Anybody got a detailed step by step guide on how to put it all into my camper.

Pippa, I have bought a V6 SVO Mk2, with a 2.8 capri engine, original SVO tranny engine in the back. The SVO has one or both blown head gaskets. Could you put the two engines together?

Great a V12 6 litre. Thanks Fred, but i think were gonna go diesel. We have a mate with a huge workshop who will lend a hand doing the convertion, so that should help keep the cost down a bit.

I also think serious bulkhead mods would be in order for a V12, and it would take a shedload of cable ties!

Bortaf, if you read it again, it's the original SVO engine in the back.

it is the 3L essex, amd a mistake on the 2.8 bit. The original is the 3L essex too, the SVO LC tranny engine. Wasn't the 2.8 a cologne?

Yep the 2.8 is a colone engine talking of colone engines the 4.0 explorer engine is made in colone and based on the 2.8/2.9 colone early ones where pushrod later ones are sohc...... theres pics here of a pushrod in a mk2 grandad.... http://www.capri.pl/page/3f519e9e775b6 and same again in a mk3 capri........ http://www.capri.pl/page/3e9e3fc1efc7c .........dont ask me for a translation  havent a clue :?
only difrence in size from a 2.8/2.9 is it's an inch taller in the block should go in a mk3 onwards without much bother mk1/2 would no doubt need bulkhead mod's
