For pure fun it was my old Mk2 1.6 SWB with sliding drivers door.

For speed it was my Maestro Van, originaly a 1.3, stripped that out and dropped a Montego 2.0 EFI into it

But best all rounder has been the Mk3 I have now, cant see any reason to get rid of her

Probably best for my purposes was the old company van I used to drive, a 'Y' reg Fiesta Courier. It had the 1.8 TD engine.
Was easily fast enough both for acceleration and top end speed. I couls fit my bike in the back without taking the wheels off and it gave 57mpg!

my mk1 is the best van ive had.but one of our company vans has grown on me .im sorry to say its a hiace lwb high roof transporter with gimp lift.but its not a transit.

a toss up between a maestro van with a montego 2.0 turbo diesel in it (bloody quick and still economical) or my mk3 transit ambulance 2.9 efi

The WORST I had was a Bedford Midi. 2.0 Isuzu diesel. no performance, no handling, no comfort. incredibly noisy and difficult to get started.
