Your van doesn't look too bad until you see the chassis damage. Labour charges being what they are, it could be a write off.

My wife (passenger) has just been paid out £4500 for whiplash after 3 years... A very nice Granddad crashed into me twice... dont ask, just dont know how he did it, but we have just brought a 50" plasma with some of it

LOL!!! Yes it was ordered from Bramall Laidlaw in Edinburgh! I think it was RBS that financed the van to be honest so they probably ordered it. Seems daft to park the van on the back of a truck/train to take it all the way to Edinburgh to then drive it back down to Preston in Lancs.

I really don't want it to be written off if I can get away with it. I'm attached to it. Just like when I had to give up my S plate Mk5 that had done 1/4 million miles. I was a bit reluctant to get out of it.

The chassis has kinked down slightly at the very back section jut next to the rear spring hangers. Hopefully it will just pull straight and then the rest is more or less cosmetic.

My van and the Merc E class were the only 2 vehicles to drive away from the accident.

We have just had 2 vans brought to us for repair with very simular damage.

One an 06 and the other a 55 plate......Both Total losses!

Spoke to the body shop that has my van. Apparently I will have it back in 3 to 4 weeks.

The Sh*troen Delinquent (Berlingo) I was driving is just so dreary, boring, uncomfortable, badly built, boring, slow, boring, etc... The passenger door handle fell off it, the bonnet pull nearly pulled off in my hand, the gear lever gaiter doesn't like the gear lever, the side loading door latch doesn't always like to work. All in 2k miles on an 06 plate with 25k on the clock.

Then I got a 12 year old Astra van, and so far, the oil light started flickering on and off because it dumped most of it's oil on the floor outside my home, The turbo has started making a squealing , the exhaust manifold is ready to fall off, the engine mounts have gone, it kangaroos unless you use full throttle (which fills the cab full of exhaust fumes because of the manifold falling off and a grommet missing out of the bulkhead, and makes the turbo squeal). all this in 700 miles although this does have 178k on the clock.

Other than that, it's been motoring heaven!!

In 30k, the Transit had a recall on the tensioner and a pair of front wheel bearings.

I saw a crashed focus estate on the A82 a few days ago. The guy lost control on a very sharp corner, went down about 5 metres into a large kinda ditch (no water), taking out a snowpole and going over a plastic bollard. The car ended up pointing the way it'd just came, wedged in tight. There was barely a scrath on the thing, rear bumper was hanging off but that was it! The driver was walking about and that (I was talking to him), IMO he was lucky it didn't flip, he'd have been f*cked then

.......just thought I'd add, I went down the A82 on Monday. There was a green saloon (looked audi) with police tape round it on the same corner as the focus before. The audi was truly f*cked, it must've flipped as the roof was caved in etc

It had left the road in exactly the same place as the focus, looked like it even went over the same plastic bollard!



Oh and then 40/50 miles down the road I found a 7.5t plant wagon stuck half in the mud on the verge. Driver said he'd been turning round when he got stuck. Took us 20mins of digging and pushing with the mini digger to get him out
