Transit Door

So if i work on the basis that a tranny door should be around 25 - 30 kg that would work out at 66lb ( so far so good! ) and then with the weight of the speaker pods and speakers around 10k ( apx ) 22 lb which means 66 + 22 = 88 lbs of lifty uppy tranny door !!!!! . Would love to find out if dangerooooous actually did this mod as i dont think the door metal will take the strain so will need to strenthen the door and frame. Everyone i have spoke to says it will be okay as long as i get a good weld on them but i'm not so sure as they have only ever done cars before.

I'm gonna sound like a killjoy, but go see a vehicle (or 2) that have been done.
I had to collect an MR2 that had 'lambo' doors & it was pathetic. You had to easy the door outwards before you could lift it, not a good job at all. It may have been just a bad example but I would check before you go mutilating your van.

how about cutting the bottom off the doors? to save a bit of weight? look up pics of arctic warrier to see what it looks like

i forgot to get the door today it was at my mums when i dropped my daughter off - but i'll remember i hope tonight and weight it tomorrow

well i am sorry but what a crap idea imo have you ever seen somebody trying to get out of a vehicle with this silly mod????

we all strive to have a unique transit but in the end we all follow the guidlines and end up with an A bar, spotlights, alloys , front visor , single seats etc etc! I like these mods and thought i have a spare van to make into something wild and NEW that captures the imagination and gives a new perspective on customising transits. If the van was for work purposes then the mod would not be thought of and if for day van conversion the same would apply. I want a tranny to show off with and prove that with thought and and a bit of elbow grease you can achieve a lot.

I had a look at Arctic Warrior and was very impressed. I am still scratching me head on this one and even had a thought of scrapping this idea and going for suicide doors instead I know it's going to be tight for May's meet but hoping to get it ready.

i dunno which would be most work

if you fit wide arches to the back then you have the problem of the sliding door catching - i always think suiciding the sld would be the classiest way round it

only thing it didnt have was the ¼ glass which cant be more than a couple of KG's
