Thanks for the replies so far. So if I have picked things up correctly I just need to

a. get the key things needed to pull th estereo out
b. Fit the extra cable to rear of stereo
c. Fit the parrot to the other end of the cable
d. try and "hide" the parrot box somewhere and then route the microphone either onto middle of dash or round the dash depending on length?
e. assuming I get the CK3000, where do you recommend fitting the answer / hangup control switch? On the 2 blank switches just above the gearstick?

Both personal choice, where ever you want to fit them really.

I appreciate that the answer to this question might be dangerous if there are any low lifes lurking but I guess they know the answer anyway!

Is there a way of getting the radio out without buying the special pins that seem to cost about a fiver? When I removed my Skoda Fabia's radio, I know I was able to do so without the pins by using a modified hacksaw blade instead.

Is there any insider info on this or do I need to purchase the pins?

You could try popping into your local 'in car entertainment' shop,
i'm sure someone would be happy just to release it for you,

Well ended up getting the Parrot 3100 instead.

Had to visit 5 different places today before I found a friendly outfit who used their pins to pull my stereo out (I couldn't seem to be able to buy the pins anywhere - not even the ford dealer)

Anyway, have managed to fit all the cables together with the radio just hanging out the dashboard, was able to make and receive calls fine.

However, when I switch the ignition off, the display disappears instantly. The manual says it should say "Goodbye" and if it doesn't, I need to reverse the two fuse holders. Did anyone else have to do this?

Finally (honest) where did you end up putting all the cables etc? Someone mentioned putting it behind the glovebox - do you mean the lower or top glovebox? How did you do this, is it a simple case of removing every screw you see?

I am nearly there, answers to these queries will get me even closer!

Yes, this is why they make them changable. Some cars the switched and permanent lives are the other way round.

Yes, I just cable tied mine in a bunch and left them behind the stereo.

OK will try that though on first sight there doesn't appear to be much space behind th stereo for this spaghetti junction of wires! Whre did you put the actual blue parrot box thing? Behind the stereo as well?

I don't have the same van as you. You can put the bits where ever you can find space, there is no set position.

Right have done all the wiring etc, all hidden away just one last question.

I want to bring the microphone out at the inside courtesy light. How do I remove the plastic light cover? There seems to ba a small slot on drivers side of it, small enough to put a slim screwdriver through it but I have done this and wiggled a screwdriver about to no success!

How do I remove this plastic cover for the light?

If it's the same as the Mk6 then it just pulls out.

worth every penny blue box under top glovebox n/s, mic at top of o/s "A" pillar works pukka, had to have volume under 1/2 as its to loud clear as a bell
