The entire Mk8 fascia should be swopped for the one in the latest Citroen Relay/ Fiat Ducato/ Peugeot Boxer vans.
After trying one for a day I can't get over how bloody useful that cabin is. 2 massive great gloveboxes - 2 large rectangular bins with deep retaining lips - and a dinky little gearlever which plugs straight into the fascia rather than on a low housing which bangs your kneecap every time.

If Ford can work with the PSA group on diesel engine development, they could try learning something from them about where to stow all your clobber so it doesn't fall out into the footwell whenever you turn a corner. Those dated flapup lids are such a pain I feel like tearing them off and hurling them out the window.

Vans are designed for people with imagination. Cars are so limiting ... what can you do with them?

Hi Folks. :D

What i would change about mine is this:-

1.Change the dash for one that's more curvey instead of all those straight lines.

2.Redesign the entire dash. The radio is too far away as is the mirror joystick.(Put it on the door right by the window switches)(The mirror joystick not the radio before anyone says)

3.Make the dash mounted gearstick support smaller so it's easier to get across the cab.

4.Borrow/steal the idea from Mercedes Benz about the flip up passenger seat with the storage area underneath and the flip down backrest that converts into a table/work surface.

5.Better incab/loadbay lighting. It's a pain in the eye trying to do paperwork with those Cortina lights!(Those in my Mondeo and Connect are great with the map lights as well as the general 'flood' light!)

6.Give us our cup holders back dammit, the ones in my latest Transit partly block the mirror when used on the passenger side(Not as bad as on the Renualt but bad all the same.)and when used on the drivers side you can't get to the mirror controls.

7.Get the trim to line up as the dashtop lids don't come anywhere near in lining up with the surrounding trim.Poor quality control?

I STILL LOVE MY TRANSIT AND I'M STILL GLAD I WENT FOR ANOTHER! :)

I don't mean the whole panel just swap the rotary controls around so the fan switch is closer to the driver :)

A lot is already changed....... but here goes.

IFS
Lowered
Power rack and pinion
EFI inline DOHC six from a post-1998 Falcon 4 litre
6 speed gearbox with remote shift in centre console/drivers seat armrest
custom dash wtih full instruments and dvd screen in the centre
leather armchairs up fromt with armrests
central locking
power windows
a LOT of sound insulation
climate control
4 wheel discs with ABS

now a lot of that will be happening, but some of it is pure dreaming.....

I would change my mirrors / windows to electric, and have the passenger seat so you can adjust it like the drivers and also fold forward to create a table like work area just area like the Fusion and a few others that have this feature, and change the colour and have the rims powder coated to match the roof.

I would like more POWER. :D

The 70 BHP DI i have,is fine when pottering about(= 30 MPG),but when towing the caravan,GOD it struggles uphills

The minibus is fine, low mileage(for its year),virtually rust free,100 % reliable,practical,6 seater with LOADS of rear

space,BUT its a pain when towing the caravan, down to 40-45 MPH when encountering hills

Ideally would LOVE Turbo conversion, ala GUY88 and DOL,amongst others.

But finding the right GOOD parts/time/knowledge to do the conversion, means it wont happen :(

Or even more unlikely, finding a DECENT Turbo 85BHP/ intercooled 115 BHP Transit

Ah well,we live in hope :)

Unless you know otherwise :?: :?: :?:
