on the filter there should be a tdci decal or a di decal with a tick beside which filter the vehicle is if it is a tdci then use the filter number we supplied if not then then one you have fitted is correct , they will both fit just one has a finer filter inside

(obviously the finer filter is to protect the sensitive common rail pumps+injectors i suppose, probably clogs up faster though)

on the fitted filter i can just see a X level with "Tdci" and a tick level with the "Di"


it feels better - i think they drained the filter, so ive ordered a proper part and that can go on it monday.

Has the van any d.t.c`s,
Has it had a leak off test,90% of t.d.c.i faults are injectors in my experience,(you may have damaged these already with wrong filter,yep it would invalidate warranty)
The other 10% are egr valves

Check All vac pipes for being kinked over/rubbed thru,ones from turbo to soleniods nr airbox to egr valve then upto vac reservoir & servo pipe take off.
Seen t piece angled connector kinked flat at servo pipe,and connection to vac reservoir off or connected to a stud instead of pipe connection

it can have a service (with a proper ford "TDCI" tick filter) then it can go to a different ford dealer if it feels the same

i doubt this one will have logged finding the wrong filter onto any system

its well overdue for a service anyway

Diagnostic trouble codes,on a suitable reader.

There won`t be any code logged for the wrong filter,but permenanent damage may have been done to fuel system,mainly injectors due to fuel not being filtered finely enough (down to either 2 or 5 microns thru a TDCi filter).

Just as mentioned,if you go to a dealer they will refuse to repair any fuel system faults if they know about wrong filter,it will invalidate your warranty (and if this gets back to prior approval EVERY dealer will know)

Needs to got to main dealer,check for later pcm calibrations,check for dtc,carry out leak off tests etc etc

i bet they whooped when they saw that filter, and yet, it was put on by a ford ealer, wouldnt that be a great dodge, fit the wrong (but identical filter) next time round its invalidated the warranty!

are the pcm calibrations only requireed if its not at the correct idle speed or is there another calibration

Calibrations are updated all the time to address various running problems,depending on when your van was built,or the last time it saw a dealer there may be a full re-program/later level calibration available.

You won`t know without putting it on a machine,gonna have to be i.d.s or similar.

Idle speed etc cannot be altered or set,if its not right there is a problem somewhere that the engine management can`t rectify.

the filter now leaks at the drain tap/bottom, the dealer drained it (without catching the derv in a jug) leaving the gbox end covered, should i complain? ive tried tightening it up, didnt stop it, not a flood and its in monday for a service (not at fords - £70 to fit a fuel filter?....go make love elsewhere geezer)

good afternoon , yes the filter arrived we fitted this filter to your vehicle whist it was in our workshop , then we were asked to remove it , can you advise us any further

i didnt order one till after my tourneo had been in to your service dept so they didnt fit the one i ordered. (unless they are physic, or using a tardis)


i was asked if i WANTED one fitting, (at a cost of £75 )+vat i assume)

rang another ford dealer near me....no stock, VOR tomorrow afternoon, 40p cheaper

now then, if they havent used one yet, what have they been fitting, cos this dealer does loads of transits

are all those warranties invalid?

its that FORD are fitting TDi filters into TDci vans+buses, what is the warranty worth after that?....zilch

Funny you should say that, none of my local dealers hold the filter for the 125 TDCi either. Yet the Ford car dealer across the road holds 40 for the TDDi.
