I'm not one for the elitest thing, I don't care what badge is on the front if it does what I need of it. I've used a T4 for 5 months before (1.9 TD), and comparing it to my 2.5 85ps Turbo I can say the following:

T4 is more comfortable, quieter, better on fuel and quicker, doesn't seem to rust as quick. Transit is bigger, and better at towing, it's arguably easier to work on too.

I don't mind the looks of the T4 from the front, but the back is a bit of a mess. I dare say though that if you want something more car like for throwing stuff in, then from personal experience the T4 may be the best bet. But, as I said, you could just buy a car?

I beg to differ from these points. We are talking about a mk6 transit here and not a mk5 (which is still a better van then the t4)
But how can you say the t4 is more comfortable then the transit?? Sod the seats, the driving position is all wrong. The great stick is in the wrong place. 2 people can sit more comfortable in a transit then a t4 as the transit is a wider van.

Quieter??? The few I have driven and been a passenger in you have to turn the radio quite high in order to silent that noisy engine. Mk6 tddi, or even better tdci way quieter.

Quicker?? I think the rac transit are 100ps t330. The aa vans I think are 110. My brother had the 86bhp model and my LWB HIGH TOP 75ps semi loaded kept up with his lwb t4 all day, even over took it when both were loaded.

The mk6/mk7 van are way more car like then the t4. Good driving position. Lovely comfortable seats, loads of leg room for passengers, CUP HOLDERS which you don’t get in a t4 plus loads off other things. I like vw e.g the mk1 gti or the r32 but they should stick to making cars.

Yes on all accounts. Not just compared to the Mk5 either, but the Mk6 which I have used on several occasions also.

It's all a matter of opinion, and that is mine. Especially considering the bias towards the Transit here, I felt it offered more of a neutral perspective.

I'm sure were you to head over to the VW forums and ask about vans you'd hear a mirror of this here. Personally, I'm not swayed by any badge, or any model as I've already said, so I was offering my opinion as so, it obviously isn't going to concur with everyone else's, but it's my opinion no less.
