Hiya

must say I am always worried about the weight bearing capacity of wheels when people adapt something from a car fitment and use them on a van.

anyone else got any views on that?

Phil

PS; what paintwork is the van having done if you get it?

If you are gonna use the van loaded with car wheels then yes but unladen then there wont be a problem.

Yeah it's certanly somthing that needs thinking about before you do it, as with all modifications! :D

Ive altered my mk1 to run on mercedes PCD which at 112mm is smaller than Transit (160mm) PCD - but it's the same as Merc Vito tho  obviously im gonna loose some strength in doing it - which is why on the fronts (the ones which take most forces) ive added a centre boss - which the transit never had. The rears ive done slightly different read here on how i did them. :D

The wheels i chose are a strong quality wheel, they wernt cheep either :x - i wouldnt reccoment fitting these cheep lesser brand alloys to a vehicle the size, weight and height of a transit! Just looking at some alloys you can see they have less strength that others - the thin 5 spoke types for example - and although they look good i wouldnt want to fit them on a transit.

My van i'd confidently load to the max and feel safe with it- even though the van will never get that  but as MrMpuk says if you are regularly commercially using and abusing your van (especially if you are letting others drive it  ) then these sort of mods are probly not the best idea!!
