i had a 4 door mk2 escort 16L (very rare, basically a 1600 sport with 4 doors and without the sporty trim) and it had "Homologation" written on the VIN plate, while trying to find out what it was about a few people who had worked at Ford dealers and similar places said they seen transit vans with the same thing on em and it usually meant they had been reshelled by Fords for some reason, maybe its something to do with that.

could have been a warranty thing or an accident repair maybe?

so going by that its a prodution van, whats it mean 1994 transit 92!!!

i'm guessing the ENGINE CALIBRATION :88 US is why its gutless, some kind of US emissons crap power thing.

the model is 1994, the series of vehicle is 92 transit.
Ford don't use Mk to denote a model of vehicle.

88US was an emission standard used across the board, it in it's self will not cause the vehicle to be gutless, the 2.9 engine was a bit of a flyer tbh, so if it's flat you've probably got a concern on it.

from memory the 88US emissions calibrations made sure it was clean enough for california by using a 3 way cat.

thanks for the info, a friend is getting a scorpio 2.9 for the engine this week and i'll be having the ecu to test, see if it makes any difference, and its going for MOT this week as well

well that sums it up quite well, every thing seems to tally, is there any way of finding what options were fitted to the van, did they fit the 2.9i to the smiley transit or will mine be one of the last.

putting the van on a ramp wednesday to see what rot is underneath, then will decide if it goes for mot or not
