That could be a "mule" they chuck the running gear and engines in the old shape first to test real world driving, check out the bulged bonnet hopefully a sign of big power  Body and interiors don't need road testing ;-) I still reckon it will brought in line with the rest of the Ford range for styling, wonder if there gonna do an ST innit version

I was just about to say that i thought the 200's were giving good economy 8) I'd just like the option to be there i know they might not sell huge amounts compared to the fleet spec stuff but i think people that buy there own vans are definately swinging towards the higher spec more powerful vans 8) Once upon a time you'd hardly see a smart van now there everywhere be it sportvans/Limited/Trends/sportlines/sportx's/sportive's 8) Try finding mk6 125t280 exec's with air and in a nice shade we know there quite rare and that's the mk6 which isn't really that long ago, resale is better aswell even if two second hand vans are the same price/condition you'd always pick the better specced one so lets hope like the mk6 to mk7 progression the mk8 moves on again 8) I do admit i like to get a shifty on on the motorways and i have a pet hate of gutless vans  both my mk6 135 and mk7 140 go well but Transporters and Mercs can still breeze past even the vivaro's are 150ps now  End of the day there the competion !

It's a test mule, probably trying out some new tech, like when the mk6 had the mk7s gearstick added to it.

Ford is trying to hide a new front fascia for the transporter van.

Think there getting confused with vw

As far as we can make out the only diesel engine will be the 2.2, they are dropping the 2.4 aswell

I am not sure that Ford is dropping the 3.2l. Ford US has announced that they will introduce the Transit in the US probably in 2012 or 2013 to replace the aging E-Line Vans. If that is true Ford would have to modify at least the front because I do not believe that the Mk 7 meets US crash specs and the emission systems to meet EPA requirements. I can not imagine that Ford would try to enter the US market with a 2.2 l 4 cyl. and without automatic transmission. The 3.2l would be ideal for the US market. My bet is that the 3.2l or something similar (maybe the 3l Ford is using in the Ranger) will be available in the Transit.

Ford are chucking a 200ps 2.2 in the Mondeo, so allowing for the extra torque that a van requires (the Mondeo has 450nm), a 180ps 2.2 would be easily achieved with getting on for 500nm of torque.

Does that 'Mk8' van not have the nose pushed out like a MK6, but with a modded Mk7 front end. I like the blunter nose of the Mk7, it looks sleek with clean design lines. What's the point of a bigger engine bay when the engine is smaller?

Its got to be a Mk6 mockup for the Mk7, not the MK8 surely?

I think they'd have disguised the lights, wings and doors if that were the case?
