Just got 36mpg from my 190 extended chassis crew cab. 2.5Di
That was over 300miles carrying a rover 800coupe on the back, so 3499kgs
Mostly motorway miles. In freezing temperatues and snow.
Very happy. :)

the rules for getting an accurate overall average mpg are...

only ever fillup, to the "first cut" on the pump, use the same pump if possible every time

recored the mileage and use:-

http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php

after 10 fillups you will have an accurate average figure

part fills, different pumps, from a maximum "last drop" fillup to a splash and dash can give 10 MPG differences, 100 miles is nothing, i look at 500 mile per tank as a minimum with 550 a good one...

29.3 mpg

44.5l / 460km

Short100bus, 9seat, 2.5 tdIc, semi high, skibox on the top of the van ( wide, but not not extra wide)
Winter tyres, 7person and gears 9 pair of skies and lots off other stuff, what you need "week away from home"
Not well serviced, but it´s running :)

accurate calculations are available when all reseipt are counted

approximate 2000 km trip

went and did 294 miles, back at 4pm, same pump 35.68ltr = 35.68 mpg

did the 294 miles 90% motorway 5th gear at 70mph

fuel cost £36.29, charged £180........

i did --------- and i didnt, waste of money

tesco buy in off shell/bp (tankers are all parked together at kingsbury oil depot) but tesco is 96.9/ltr (less 5p/ltr shoppers discount voucher)

so the shell ultimate at £1.029 ltr(?) vs tesco at 92p a ltr is almost 10% cheaper (roughly)

so unless id get 35mpg +10% (38.5 mpg) then im saving using tescos....

I used to sell/deliver trailer parts to the local distribution storage site at Kingsbury (by the M42/A5)

theres Mobil, BP and Shell, and they have tankers in the Shell site signed up Sainsburys, Tescos, Asda, etc...

the "premium" diesel id guess is standard stuff with additives - who know what - but it is quieter and seems better but at what cost?

on holiday in spain ive never seen a smokey diesel car or van, i bet thier derv is better
