Just got back from a nice 1200 mile round trip to the IOM.

I was averaging around 24mpg before the trip.

I used 2-stroke oil for this trip to see what difference it made. Apart from fuel consumption, the engine is so much quieter. No diesel engine clattering or pinking :D

Having worked things out properly last night, I used 200 litres of bog standard diesel and 750ml of 2-stroke oil for a total of 1168 miles. All figures are give or take a few ml.

Works out roughly 26.5mpg. So, an increase of around 2.5mpg on my previous calculations.

I'm hoping to gain a little more once I've carried out a full service and sorted out a couple of minor issues like straightening out a kink in the exhaust :? and replacing the shocks.

I "think" the older 2.5di/smileys did better on long runs than short runs whereas my Tdci seems the other way around, certainly i get 37-38mpg on my 6 day a week/100 mile a day country road loop, and only got 36mpg on a 300 mile run with 90% of that in 5th, then again, the 36mpg was done on tescos basic derv ...

As I have posted in the 2 stroke oil thread, here is the post I posted there

Have some mpg values for my mk2 2.5di turboed with Lucas Cav pump (until conversion ).
183 miles ==> 25.26 L diesel
after the last fillup I put 300ml engine oil 15W40(didn't had 2stroke oil) and 110ml Acetone. using 1.56ml per 1 Litre diesel.
result 40mpg
Never achieved that before, and these last two weeks he was driven with a hard foot heavy accellertion in morning traffic.
If you reduce some errors in reading say it come 36mpg, SO Acetone does work with the right quantities. I proved it for myself.

just got back from a trip to Norfolk, clocked up 544 miles on one tank without running out, not bad for a well battered and abused R reg Tourneo turbo Di, works out as 37mpg, with 3 adults, 3 kids, a bloody huge roofbox, and the boot full up

first trip in my 51 plate 465 miles at 33.5 mpg. Full load for about 230 miles on the motorway and down through mid wales on the way back at a fair tilt. SWB semi high 300 5 speed manual. (white ;)).

Old smiley 1996 swm semi used to get about 30 when on a run with 5 people and ikea purchases lol

Miles apart to drive though.
